Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK There are hundreds of thousands of children in our country who could be defined as “children in need of protection”. Children who lack access to assistance are striving to maintain their lives, facing various dangers. Failure to help these Children in Need of Protection when they need it most, might transform them into tomorrow’s potential criminals or at the least expose them to physical and social misfortunes (such as paint thinner addiction, drug addiction, sexual abuse, robbery, etc.) caused by unhealthy circumstances. Our nation will benefit much if both private and public organizations take care of these needy children who share the future of our country, support them both financially and spiritually to help improve themselves physically, morally and mentally, so that they can develop a feeling of security and build a constructive and productive presence in our society. By utilizing all available resources, it is possible to provide higher quality and more comprehensive services to a higher number of children in need of protection and help them integrate into society. Established in 1979, the Turkish Foundation for Children in Need of Protection has been successfully continuing its services for 27 years with the support of its founders, board of trustees and benevolent individuals and organizations. For the first time in Turkey, our Foundation was granted Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council on the basis of the successful and self-sacrificing activities our Foundation has been carrying out to help needy children in Turkey. |
